North Zumbro Sanitary Sewer District is Included in State Bonding!

With the MN legislative session coming to a close, the NZSSD received $12 million in bonding for our regional sewer project:

52.1 For a grant to the joint powers sanitary district
52.2 created pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section
52.3 471.59, comprising the cities of Zumbrota,
52.4 Goodhue, Pine Island, and Wanamingo, to
52.5 design, engineer, permit, construct, and equip
52.6 Phase 1 of a new state-of-the-art regional
52.7 wastewater treatment facility and adjoining
52.8 lift stations and forcemains to be located in
52.9 Goodhue County and to serve as a regional
52.10 wastewater facility prototype. This facility
52.11 shall provide wastewater treatment service for
52.12 the Elk Run settlement lands of the Prairie
52.13 Island Indian Community, which shall connect
52.14 to existing wastewater infrastructure in the
52.15 city of Pine Island. This appropriation includes
52.16 money for demolition of existing wastewater
52.17 treatment structures and related infrastructure
52.18 and for improvements and betterments of a
52.19 capital nature, including the construction of
52.20 infrastructure, necessary to connect the new
52.21 facility to the communities in the sanitary
52.22 district and for the facility to serve its intended
52.23 purpose. Phase 1 consists of site work at the
52.24 lift station sites and construction of a portion
52.25 of forcemain piping. This appropriation is in
52.26 addition to the appropriation in Laws 2023,
52.27 chapter 72, article 2, section 10, subdivision
52.28 10.
